MEDULLA
Pragma x Eutopiarch official unveiling

MEDULLA marks a first-ever public showcase of the collection’s selected works, establishing a new chapter in Laponte’s practice.

PRAGMA derives from the Greek word meaning action or concrete fact, and defines the intention behind the collection: objects conceived as actions rather than purely functional products. Dimensions may respond to symbolic systems, numerical sequences such as Fibonacci proportions, or conceptual narratives rather than standard ergonomic expectations. The pieces are often heavy, angular, and assembled through visible joints or interlocking elements. This construction method allows the object to reveal how it stands and how it is made, reinforcing a conscious relationship between the user and the piece.

A key formative reference is Laponte’s early visit to the Convent of La Tourette by Le Corbusier during his architecture studies. The building’s deliberate rejection of comfort—through stairs with unconventional proportions and austere, yet functional living cells—left a lasting impression. The architecture forces concentration on the act being performed, rather than offering ease. This principle directly informs PRAGMA: objects are designed to slow the user down, demanding awareness of movement, posture, and use.

MEDULLA presents a selected group of works as an exhibition that delves into the origin of the collection.

The title refers to the core of the creative process — the point where references, language, and structure converge before becoming physical form. The installation is conceived as a focused environment in which the objects are presented individually, allowing visitors to understand their conceptual basis as well as their construction. Creation is revealed as a gradual surfacing — the moment when abstract thought condenses into matter.

A debut that defines Laponte’s work: from utopia, the conceptual dimension, to pragma, the concrete act.
